A crown is a type of restoration that will surround and cover the affected tooth, protecting it from future decay or damage. Dr. Anya may recommend a crown: if your child needs nerve treatment (pulpotomy and pulpectomy), if your child experiences trauma resulting in a cracked or fractured tooth, if a tooth has developed incorrectly or is malformed, and if there is a large area of decay that cannot be properly restored with a simple filling. Dr. Anya will evaluate which type of crown would be best suited for the patient.  A variety of white and tooth-colored crowns are available for certain cases where the decay or trauma occurred to a front tooth, or to improve the esthetic appearance of the crown. Dr. Anya and her team will be able to you talk to you about which restoration is right for your child.
