By the time your child is 7, some early signs of orthodontic challenges my be visible. Dr. Anya can perform an orthodontic evaluation to identify developmental issue in your child’s smile or bite that could need orthodontic care to correct. In most children the problems that lead to orthodontic care are:

• Crowding of Teeth
• Overbites
• Underbites
• Crossbites
• Early loss of baby teeth
• Abnormal enamel wear

These problems can cause jaw pain, bone loss, headaches and tooth loss. They also can affect your child’s confidence as a crooked smile can keep them from being proud of their teeth and overall image.

After Dr. Anya has evaluated your child’s needs, she will discuss the next step in their treatment. She will determine if your child should seek orthodontic care immediately, or if continued observation is in order. Our goal is to promote your child’s best possible smile. Immediate care may not always be the best option for your child. Dr. Anya will carefully monitor your child’s development to determine the proper time to start any orthodontic care. We want to prepare your child for a lifetime of healthy habits. Orthodontic treatment can help them be confident in their smile as well as prevent major health complications later in their life.
